Below you will see a demerit chart. This chart gives you an idea of what happens when a demerit is given.
Independant Work / Homework
Homework is never just assigned, with the exception of the Science Fair. Students are always given some classroom time to work on independent work. When independant work is not finished at school, it becomes homework. If your student is bringing home a significant amount of work, it could possibly be they are not using their class time wisely.
Missing / Incomplete Work
I understand sometimes things happen. Therefore, I allow my students two "re-do" passes each six weeks.
When students do not turn in assignments, they must sign the "No Homework Binder," and describe the reason for not having their assignment. If an assignment is not turned in on the day that it is due, it is recorded in the gradebook as a zero.
In order for an assignment to be considered complete, the assignment must be 80% complete. This does not mean the student has to make the grade of an 80, it simply means they must have the majority of the assignment complete.
If a student has any missing work for the six week period, they will not be elibigle to attend the reward trip.
